Biography

Sky Brown was only 3 years old when she started skateboarding. What’s even more amazing is that she didn’t have a skateboarding coach; instead, she learned new tricks by watching YouTube videos. By the time she was 7, she took 3rd place at Exposure—the biggest skateboarding contest in the world for girls. At age 8, she competed at the Vans US Open, becoming the youngest skateboarder to ever compete at the event. Since becoming a professional skateboarder in 2016 (at the age of 10) she has medaled at several world championships, made history by becoming the first female to “frontside 540” at the 2019 Minneapolis X Games, won her first gold medal at the Summer X Games in 2021, and took home her first Olympic medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. When Sky isn’t skateboarding, you can find her surfing her home break in Miyazaki, Japan, dancing (she was the 2018 winner of Dancing with the Stars: Juniors), singing, and doing martial arts (primarily karate and jiu-jitsu). When asked what advice she has for kids, Sky said, “Don’t waste your life staring at a screen. Put your screen down, get outside, and do some cool stuff.”
