Ava Johnson is a level 10 gymnast—the highest level possible before turning pro. She began at age three and has been training 20 hours a week since she was 10. Her favorite events are the floor routine, because she loves to dance, and tumbling, because she loves the power of it. “Every day brings new challenges and rewards,” says Ava, “which teaches me resilience. Every struggle only refines my determination and desire. I can’t think of a better use of my time than to keep flipping.” Ava also spends her time reading, painting, and customizing thrift store clothes, as well as competing in track and field. In 2020, Ava won the first ever Gabb Ambassador Search contest, receiving $10,000 and the title of “Gabb Ambassador.” Even before winning, she inspired her teammates to live beyond the screen by being the only member of her team using a Gabb Phone. “You may feel like you will never achieve your goals,” says Ava, “but don’t be scared. You have to go out and try. Do things beyond your comfort zone, because you never know what you’re capable of until you try.”
